It has centered around two hardware stores in the last few days, and one of the suspects has been accused of being the consecutive shoplifter the detective was looking for.

APD’s organized crime unit was looking for five consecutive shoplifters at the Home Depot location in Renaissance Boulevard. It is located in the northeastern part of Albuquerque and on the west side off Coors.

On Friday, September 10, police arrested Michael Johnston. Police said he recently shoplifted $ 2,500 worth of tools and air compressors. And he caught him when he pulled him into the parking lot of the Home Depot in the same car he used in his previous shoplifting crime.

During the Home Depot operation, the detective also arrested three other suspected shoplifters, James Breslin, Salvador Jaramiro, and Raymond Rodriguez.

Rodriguez had an arrest warrant and a judge released him after violating the release conditions in another case allegedly stealing fiber optic cables for more than $ 3,000 in June.

Shoplifters attacking large Albuquerque retailers continue to be a problem.

Hector Balderas, New Mexico’s Attorney General, said:

In July, Valderas announced a new partnership with Albuquerque police and private sector to curb retail crime.

“This is a public security initiative aimed at protecting families in Albuquerque and New Mexico,” said Valderas.
