Albuquerque, New Mexico (KRQE) – Albakirk Public School A bus driver was caught in a camera speed breach and overtook a car on the other side of the road. Those who captured the video say it was neither the beginning nor the end of their experience with the driver.
Nathanael Martinez was driving home along Rio Bravo on Wednesday morning. He noticed that there was an APS bus on his tail. After turning to 98th, he stopped the car and confronted the driver.
“I had to stop, I got off my truck and told her.” You have to slow down. You’re too close to my truck, you’re too close, “Martinez said. “She said,’If you don’t want to be hit from behind, you have to speed up.'”
Martinez says it was when things escalated and the bus driver cursed him and turned him over. The next moment was captured with his dash camera. When you return home to the truck, the bus runs at high speed on the other side of the road, crossing the yellow double line and past Martinez.
Martinez says the bus stopped at the end of the street when he caught up. Upon returning home, he called APS to report the incident, heard the car coming back, looked out the window, and saw the bus outside the house.
“Fortunately, I don’t think there was anyone inside,” Martinez said. “Even when she came to my house, I was looking through the window, and I didn’t see the child.”
Many people in the area far exceed the 30mph speed limit, according to Martinez, but there are concerns about when there will be a reliable school bus to keep children safe. The bus passes through the APS, but it’s unclear if the driver is in the district or an outside contractor.
Martinez also says he reported the case to Albuquerque Police Station And it is being investigated. KRQE News 13 contacted APS for more information about the incident and the driver, but did not receive a response.
