Arkansas City, Kansas (KSNW) – Arkansas City’s Memorial Lawn Cemetery was damaged by vandalism.
Four stones, signs and flowers in the graveyard were damaged on Monday afternoon. The county will contact the burial family to assist in resolving the damage.
The garage, chapel and office facilities were also damaged. Cleanup and repair in progress.
According to a news release, Cowley County Sheriff’s agent arrested a 33-year-old Arkansas City man involved in the incident. Stephen Eugene Walker was booked on suspicion of burglary, vandalism, grave criminal blasphemy, and debt revocation.
