Asheville, NC (WSPA) – The Asheville Police Department is seeking civilian help in an investigation after a bullet hits a wall near a sleeping child.

According to APD, at 9:30 pm on December 2, someone fired multiple gunshots at an apartment complex in Lee Garden Lane.

During the investigation, they recovered 11 9mm shell casings near the intersection of Biltmore Avenue and John Walker Avenue.

They also found that at least one of the bullets entered the apartment and hit a wall just two feet above the sleeping child. Police said additional shootings damaged windows in vacant offices in apartment buildings.

According to officials, APD investigators have spoken to many on the scene, with reports of suspects ranging from unknown red vehicles with weapons released to shots from black sedans on Builtmore Avenue.
