Kansas City, Missouri (KCTV)-Two shootings in Kansas City killed at least two people in total, and the city’s year-to-date total of murders exceeded 140.
The first shooting took place in the parking lot of the Peppermill Lounge on Hickman Mills Drive, just south of Longview Road. Around 2:30 am, a police officer was dispatched to a shootout at the location and found a man lying in the parking lot. According to police, he was shot dead and unresponsive, and was later sentenced to death.
The second shooting took place at Westport Road and Broadway Boulevard at around 2:40 am. Off-duty police officers near Westport and Pennsylvania Avenue heard and responded to the shot.
Police said the man approached the policeman and said he had been shot. They called ambulances, and those cops heard more shots coming from Broadway and Archibald Street. There police found the victim of a second ammunition.
Shortly thereafter, a third victim, who was shot dead, arrived at the hospital alone, according to Kansas City police.
The victims of all three ammunition were adult men. Two were stable in the hospital and one died.
Due to the murders, Kansas City’s annual total exceeded 145, making 2021 the second deadliest year after last year’s 179 murders.
There were 151 murders in 2019 and 2017, but this year there are far more murders than the one on December 6th.
There were 153 murders in Kansas City in 1993, the highest before last year.
