Hattiesburg, Mississippi (AP) — At least two people were killed when a small plane crashed into a Mississippi home late Tuesday, according to emergency authorities.

Hattiesburg officials were called to the scene of the plane crash shortly before 11:30 pm, according to Hattiesburg police spokesman Ryan Moore.

WDAM-TV said two people were killed after a civilian plane crashed into the house, said Hattiesburg Fire Chief Danny Wade.

Authorities did not immediately identify the victims or reveal whether they were on a plane or at home.

The cause of the crash was not immediately apparent.

According to police, the Federal Aviation Administration was asked to investigate.

Hattiesburg is about 90 miles (145 kilometers) southeast of Jackson.
