According to Mayor Cliff Williams, the Aurora Industrial Park is under development.

“We have a very productive meeting with Nutrien and are waiting for their response,” Williams said. “For industrial parks, there are state grants from the state through the Golden Leaf Foundation and the Department of Commerce to provide infrastructure.”

The industrial park project has been underway since 2019. Project development has been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the town is working towards publicizing the status of the project.

“It’s aimed at companies wanting to go to the Aurora region and is open to contractors. We also expect to have a facility at the Satellite Beaufort County Community College. Beaufort County Economy Martin Johnson, Team Leader of the Development Team, said:

The planned industrial park will consist of more than 41 acres of space for new and existing companies and contractors to come to the area. The town estimates that the park will provide new employees with at least 20 full-time positions.

“Once that’s done, we’re looking forward to a big boom in Aurora, adding 50% to the tax base and potentially driving new developments,” Johnson said.

The planned location of the industrial plant is near the Richland Township Fire and Rescue Department along Highway 33, North Carolina.

“There’s a lot of preparation for what happens in Aurora, and we’re very excited about what’s coming,” Williams said.
