Two Aurora police officers shot the man they said fired first on Tuesday.

According to Aurora police, the incident began at 12:30 pm and received reports of domestic violence, including screams and gunshots, in an apartment located in Block 2300 of South Kisana Duway.

“When police arrived at the scene, they faced a man with a gun,” Aurora Police Chief Vanessa Wilson told reporters Tuesday afternoon. “He was in front of the apartment.”

According to Wilson, the policeman hid himself and ordered the man to drop his weapon. Instead, the man fired a round and was shot by the police. He was subsequently arrested, rushed to surgery, and expected to survive, police chief said.
