Aurora, Colorado 2021-09-14 18:22:50 –
Aurora is one of Colorado’s first cities this week, counteracting the idea of allowing shared lighting for smoking lounges, tasting rooms and rolling weed baths, and the city council seems to have severely rejected the new pot hospitality rules. It was accepted just 3 weeks ago..
The bill fell by a 5 to 5 tie on Monday night, which means the ordinance will fail due to city rules. Mayor Mike Kofman, who is only allowed to vote to create or break a tie, cast a tie vote.
Due to the tie, the councilor must go in front of the councilor a third time (September 27) to give him the last chance to pass if he changes his mind. Councilor Masha Belgins voted against Monday, initially supporting the August 23 bill when it passed 6-3.
Aurora’s new rules would have allowed the establishment of a pot lounge in the form of bricks and mortar, or on wheels. Depending on the business, customers could have bought marijuana there or brought their own weeds.
