Authorities search for suspect after 2 people shot near UMKC – Kansas City, Missouri

Kansas City, Missouri — University of Missouri-Kansas City officials issued a warning on Wednesday after two people were shot dead near the campus.

One message states: “New information: UMKC police have found two shooting victims in Lot 5 and Oak cars. A pedestrian was shot into the car. No explanation. All suspects.”

Another person said, “ACTIVE SHOOTER north of 51stand Oak Streets. Determines the safest course of action: RUN-HIDE-FIGHT. Police are responding. Updates are:”

A UMKC spokesman told KSHB 41 News that pedestrians were walking down Oak Street and firing at vehicles.

The condition of the victim was not immediately known.
