Detroit-It’s been a while since I tried out Infiniti. Therefore, we forgot the brand identity: speed, speed and usability.

There was a 2022 QX55 crossover and I was surprised at some levels.

First, it was quick and quick. Powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, it delivered 268 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque.

Surprisingly, this engine was combined with a continuously variable transmission. There was a paddle shifter.

Infiniti engineers have mastered the acquisition of a transmission to power the QX55 almost instantly from driver input. The QX55 was fast. We noticed that we were pedaling into the metal on one of the highways here and watching 80 mph. The engine wasn’t working hard.

It had a MacPherson strut front suspension and an independent multi-link rear suspension. In other words, it is set so that high-speed driving can be done smoothly and low-speed driving can be done comfortably.

The QX55 is processed with the accuracy that comes with all-wheel drive. It was a keyless operation. The comfort of heated and cooled front seats and many other creatures expected of a luxurious CUV.

However, I was a little disappointed that the steering was not heated. At least the control was not found. But when we read the information package, they said it was. Undoubtedly, the controls were right in front of our face.

Infiniti’s Pro Assist package includes standard QX55 features such as cube-designed LED headlights and adaptive front light system, as well as driver support features such as intelligent cruise control, distance control assistance, blind spot intervention and lane departure prevention. Was there.

The package also included traffic sign recognition. Direct adaptive steering; head-up display. Further evolve with the innovative ProPILOT Assist system that supports the driver with steering assist.Intelligent cruise control with full speed range, stop and hold..

Still, the 2022 QX55 was eye-catching. It had 20 inch wheels and a curved roof. And Infiniti’s wide-mouthed grille with cat’s eye headlights in the corners gave it a lot of personality.

Of course, there was also a drive mode selector. I didn’t spend a lot of time counting the number of modes I had at my disposal. There was an 8-inch top screen and a 7-inch bottom screen.

Infiniti said it would provide entertainment and information to the driver and passenger seat fingertips during the ride. Again, due to the simplicity of the test drive, I never mastered which screen controls what, except for the navigation map on the top screen.

But all this point is that I had to look down to see the screen below. This was a great example of the age of digital information, where drivers keep an eye on the road.

Interior features include power-sliding colored glass moon roof, ergonomically designed front seats, active noise cancellation, forward emergency braking with pedestrian detection, rear automatic braking, predictive forward collision warning, high beam assist, It included a series of active safety features such as lane departure warnings, blind spot warnings, and rear-crossing traffic warnings.

Included a high-speed 4G LTE connection that provides Wi-Fi connectivity on the go with up to 7 devices.

The QX55 was launched in April. The price of our test model was $ 58,770. It seemed to be worth the price.
