Bakersfield City has announced several temporary closures of Manor Street Bridge over the next few days.

Alternating temporary closures are planned on Tuesday and Wednesday on the north and south sides of the Manor Street Bridge over the Kern River.

From 8:30 am on Tuesday, the north-facing lane over the Manor Street Bridge will be closed until noon. During this closure period, the southbound lane across the Manor Bridge will be reduced to one lane. Union Avenue will implement detour plans for northbound traffic during these closures.

From noon on Tuesday, the south-facing lane of Manor Street Bridge will be closed until 4:30 pm. During this closure, the north-facing lane of Manor Bridge will be reduced to one lane. Detour plans will be implemented in Roberts Lane for southbound traffic during these closures.

From 8:30 am on Wednesday, the north-facing lane over the Manor Street Bridge will be closed until noon. During this closure period, the southbound lane across the Manor Bridge will be reduced to one lane. Union Avenue will implement detour plans for northbound traffic during these closures.

From noon Wednesday, the south-facing lane of Manor Street Bridge will be closed until 4:30 pm. During this closure, the north-facing lane of Manor Bridge will be reduced to one lane. Detour plans will be implemented in Roberts Lane for southbound traffic during these closures.

As a result of this work, traffic delays are expected. Drivers will be asked to be careful when driving in the area and plan extra travel time or use a different route.

Work requiring these closures will be completed on Wednesday. These closures are part of a bridge restoration project initiated in May 2020.
