Balloon Fiesta unveils new balloon to commemorate 50th anniversary – Albuquerque, New Mexico

“This is a loving job. It’s actually a celebration of Balloon Fiesta’s first 50 years, dating back to when the founder Sid Cutter, represented at the top of the balloon, started the event. Andrew Baird of Cameron Balloons actually has this young woman behind me with 12 balloons and the 12 founders of Balloon Fiesta beautifully recreating all the balloons with this Fiesta balloon. It is represented by this balloon.

A special anniversary balloon was created in Balloon Fiesta over 9 days. This usually takes 4-5 weeks.

“Well, we worked with the whole team. I put it in a box here and took it home. I needed to bring it home, so I cut all the panels, cut out all the small pieces of artwork, and planned where I needed it. But all the sewing was done right behind you in the Sid Cutter Pavilion, so this balloon was really born in Fiesta. “

This year was the 50th balloon festival, but since it was postponed due to a pandemic last year, it will be held from October 1st to 9th next year.

“This will probably be flown later this year and here next year to promote the 50th anniversary.”
