Thornton, Colorado — On Tuesday evening, in a “very fluid situation,” a suspected car theft who fled Thornton police hid himself inside the company and took a temporary hostage.

According to Thornton police, the standoff ended around 6:30 pm, the hostages were released, and the man was arrested after fleeing a business at the Mission Trace shopping center on East 120th Avenue and Colorado Boulevard.

The situation started around 5 pm. When the suspect came across a mission tracing business and refused to leave, Thornton police were chasing police officers “a suspected man and a suspect’s car thief.”

Neighboring businesses were closed with great care, police said.

During the standoffs, police said unidentified suspects had taken hostages but soon released them.

At around 6:45 pm, police tweeted that the suspect had been detained nearby after escaping from the company on foot.

No other details have been announced. I don’t know if anyone was injured.
