Family, friends, and community members gathered at The Office in Kingsville to collect funeral expenses.
Kingsville, Texas — The Kingsville community met on Sunday to help families in need. Benefits were made to help the family of 17-year-old Juan Lolanda Conde, who was shot and killed last week.
Kingsville police say Conde was shot dead in his house last Tuesday overnight. Later that afternoon, Conde’s mother found him dead at his home on 16th Avenue.
On Sunday, family, friends, and community members gathered in the “office” of Kingsville to remind us of a young man known to many as CJ.
Brisket plates are also sold for $ 10 each, and the money collected is sent to Condes’ mother for funeral and burial costs.
“The community has come together to help this family while they are in trouble now. It’s sad that he was only 17 years old,” said family Norma Cortez.
Police chief Rick Torres told 3News that Conde seemed to have been killed during the night. He also says there are currently no suspects in the case and is seeking public help.
“Hopefully they will catch the person who did this and get justice for CJ,” Cortez said.
