Aurora police are investigating a fatal accident involving a cyclist and an SUV driver.
Police responded to a collision on East 16 Avenue and North Alton Street at 5:10 pm on July 1. Police said during an investigation that a man cyclist traveling north on North Alton Street was attacked by an SUV heading west on East 16th Street when he learned that he had not stopped at a stop sign.
According to police, the SUV driver stayed on the scene and worked with police officers. Police said drugs, alcohol and speed were not believed to be the cause of the incident.
The bicycle was transferred to a local hospital and was injured and died on July 8.
The Adams County Coroners Office will publish the name of the cyclist after a solid identity has been verified and his close relatives have been notified.
