Washington (AP) — President Joe Biden will announce a series of administrative steps aimed at combating gun violence on Thursday.
A person familiar with Biden’s plans has previewed his first major action on gun control since taking office.
Biden is expected to announce stricter regulations that require so-called “ghost gun” buyers to undergo background checks.
Ghosts’n Guns are homemade guns that are difficult to track because they don’t have a serial number, allowing buyers to bypass federal background checks.
The president also plans to nominate candidates to lead the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, a potentially key position in combating gun violence.
