President Joe Biden announced on Friday that he had taken a cautious victory lap to control the COVID-19 pandemic and had been vaccinated 300 million times in the 150 days since he took office.

Biden praised the efforts of scientists, businesses, Americans, and his entire government. The president said extensive vaccination campaigns were preparing most Americans to spend a relatively normal summer as businesses resumed and employers hired.

“We are heading for a very different summer than last year,” said the president. “A bright summer. With prayer, a summer of joy.”

However, Biden has marked one milestone, so there is a risk that he will not be able to reach another milestone. The goal is for 70% of American adults to be vaccinated at least partially by July 4th in just over two weeks.

Overall, about 168 million American adults, or 65.1% of the U.S. population over the age of 18According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, he has been vaccinated with at least one COVID-19 vaccine as of Friday.

The pace of new vaccinations in the United States has dropped significantly from nearly two million daily highs about two months ago, jeopardizing Biden’s ability to exceed 70%.

The White House said the government-wide approach to vaccination efforts has caused the virus to recede, reaching lowest levels of COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths in more than a year. However, Biden said in his statement that some communities in low-immunization states have seen cases and increased hospitalizations.

The administration is in the midst of a month-long electric shock to combat vaccine hesitation and the lack of urgency for some people to receive injections, especially in the South and Midwest.

CDC director Rochelle Walensky said Friday that he expects a delta variant of the coronavirus to dominate the United States. The strain became dominant in the United Kingdom after it was first detected in India.

While appearing on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” she told the American who took the shot, “You will be protected from this delta variant.”

As part of the administration’s promotion of vaccination, Vice President Kamala Harris visited Atlanta on Friday and was a pastor until Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated in 1968. Pop-up COVID-19 of the Eveniser Baptist Church I visited the vaccination site. The current chief pastor is US Senator Raphael Warnock.

Harris also spoke at the COVID-19 Vaccine Mobilization Event at Clark Atlanta University, a historically black college. She said she “has the power to end this pandemic” by providing students with information about a number of resources, such as free car rides and childcare, that can be used to support vaccination. ..

In Fulton County, Georgia, where Atlanta is located, 49% of residents have received at least one shot. Harris said it was 42% across the state.

“Getting vaccinated is building the power of the community,” she said. “Vaccination is building the power of our country.”

The Biden administration argues that failure to meet the 70% vaccination target will have little impact on the recovery of the United States as a whole. This is already more advanced than Biden said a few months ago.

Biden wants to celebrate Independence Day as a “summer of freedom” from the virus.

Earlier this week, the White House announced plans to invite first responders, key workers, service members and their families to cook out on South Lawn and watch fireworks at the National Mall.

More than 1,000 guests are expected for the event, which will be one of President Biden’s biggest events.
