Honolulu (KHON2) — Two people lost their homes after a Hawaiian firefighter responded to a building fire on Thursday, October 14.
The incident took place on Pohai Street in Hilo just before 7 pm Thursday, officials said. The firefighters arrived at the scene at 7:09 pm and had already been extinguished before their arrival.

Further investigation determined that the cause of the flame was the propane tank (which was supplying the instant water heater) that ignited in the garage. The fire was completely extinguished around 7:10 pm.
Officials reported that the two had been transferred to the Hilo Medical Center in a stable condition. No other injuries or damage to surrounding structures have been reported.
