Nashville, Tennessee (WTVF) — In May 2022, the Big Payback 24-hour online donation event, the ninth year of the non-profit donation initiative sponsored by the Central Tennessee Community Foundation (CFMT), was held. The event ended Thursday night and donors donated nearly $ 4 million to nonprofits in participating areas.
The 2022 initiative enrolled approximately 1,000 Middle Tennessee nonprofits (including schools and religious groups) from 36 counties. This year, 79 organizations participated for the first time.
Donors were able to search and select organizations based on mission, location, and focus. Gifts of all sizes were received for a minimum of $ 10.
The categories given included animal welfare, art and culture, community improvement, education, health, housing and shelter, social welfare, environment and youth development.
Michael McDaniel, Senior Nonprofit Liaison of CFMT and Big Payback Coordinator for 2022, said: We would like to thank the donors for making significant investments in all participating nonprofits that support the many needs of our community. As a result, good things happen. “
Gifts to nonprofits from the public were boosted by additional monetary prizes from sponsors of Big Payback.
The total donation of $ 4 million came from nearly 26,000 gifts, including the sum of the funds raised and the prizes. However, the two post-event prizes are the most improved and the most creative.
The number of first-time donors exceeded 6,500, and the total donation amounted to more than $ 567,000. With the new event feature, 632 volunteers have promised participating organizations more than 25,000 hours.
Online leaderboards tracked donations in real time, both online and digital billboards across the region.
