Kansas City, Missouri (KCTV)-The Missing Person Case in Cassidy Rainwater has received national attention. It’s a pain for someone who knows her well.
“I don’t think the end result will be something everyone wants to hear,” Ben said.
Our research team met Ben near his home in the metropolitan area. He is the real father of one of Rainwater’s sons. We searched old court records to find him and agreed not to use his full name.
Ben and Cassidy met when they lived in Harrisonville. She went to high school there. They had never been married, but they remained friends and communicated frequently. Their son is now 16 years old and lives with another family outside the area.
“It’s unusual for her to disappear,” Ben said. “We spoke several times a year.”
But they last spoken in May 2019. That was 30 months ago.
Then last month Ben was informed of Cassidy’s disappearance by his real son’s adoptive parents.
Ben says his family is trying to protect his son from the news surrounding the Rainwater incident.
The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate her disappearance, and there are still more questions than answers.
We know that two men, James Phelps and Timothy Norton, have been charged with kidnapping and terrorizing her at a house in the Ozark area. More charges may come. A photo of her partially naked in a cage was found.
Phelps’ house burned down last week. And a new report from the Springfield Fire Department revealed that two devices (homemade bombs with tripwires) were found in Phelps’ property.
“It’s shocking. It’s … it’s devastating,” Ben said when he tried to find a word to describe his feelings. “To be honest, I can’t even handle emotions right now.”
According to court documents, Phelps told police when he was asked to stay in his property while Rainwater “recovered.” But he said she left at midnight.
Rainwater sometimes struggled, and Ben said in their last conversation he provided help, believing that Rainwater was homeless, and another child he was biologically unrelated to. I’m trying to support.
“Because of her past, I was always worried about her,” Ben said. “She was in a terrible state. She and I talked, and I was like,” You know, come to Kansas City. ” We will understand things. She wanted to regain her life. “
For now, Ben can only wait for the investigation to continue, admitting those who know Cassidy is prepared for the worst.
“That wouldn’t be good,” Ben said.
