Sue Bird and Diana Torashi will be the first Olympic gold medalist to play five times in women’s basketball, leading the US team at the Tokyo Olympics.
The duo was elected to the fifth Olympics on Monday and joined Teresa Edwards as the only basketball player to play in the fifth Olympics in US history.
Edwards has won four gold medals and one bronze medal in his illustrious career.
Bird and Taurasi lead a veteran group that includes Sylvia Fowles.
The 6’6 center will play at her fourth Olympics.
Tina Charles will be third and Brittney Griner and Breanna Stewart will be back for the second time.
There will also be six newcomers on the Olympic stage, the group of which is headed by WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson.
