Toronto (AP) — Jordan Romano hits base in the ninth inning to launch Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s tiebreaker single, with the Toronto Blue Jays defeating the Yankees 2-1 on Wednesday night to win a streak in New York. Finished at 11.

Matt Chapman returned home and Yusei Kikuchi (1-1) allowed the season’s best six innings.

Giancarlo Stanton hit a one-out single from Romano for the ninth time and was replaced by pinch runner Tim Locastro. Tim Locastro advanced to second place with a hit by Josh Donaldson. Aaron Hicks launched the attack and Joey Gallo walked to load the base of Isiah Kiner-Falefa.

Romano leads the major with 12 saves in 13 trials. Toronto has avoided being wiped out in a three-game series.

Eleven games in New York were the longest since the 13 consecutive wins from August 14th to 27th, 2021.

“11 wins in a row, it’s not easy,” said Donaldson. “It doesn’t matter who you play.”

The Yankees manager Aaron Boone was banished to referee Marty Foster for claiming the ball and strike at the eighth Aaron Judge’s turn at bat. Foster raised an upset judge after summoning a judge on his sixth strike.

“We are playing a lot,” Boone said. “I felt like there was a couple there in a situation that didn’t work.”

Boone and Foster exchanged heated words before the Yankees manager left the dugout. After one pitch, the judge struck a swing to finish the inning.

“He stood up for us and stood up for me. I am grateful for it,” the judge said.

Hicks said it’s difficult to get Foster’s inconsistent calls

“These balls are low for judges,” Hicks said. “Especially in such big situations, a solid strike zone is needed. They are difficult to swallow, especially in such big situations and such guys on the plate.”

In the discussion, Mr. Boone said he believed he did nothing to justify the additional discipline from the league.

“I was pretty angry there,” he said. “Hopefully it’s not suspension, etc. I kept controlling it somewhat.”

The judge instigated three times two nights in a row and finished 0-3 with a walk and three strikeouts. He became hitless for the second time in 14 games.

Kikuchi won the championship for the first time in five times, starting with Toronto. He walked one and hit the best seven of the season.

“For the staff, he was good,” Boone said. “He was throwing hard. He flashed a good change-up, the cutter was a good pitch for him.”

The Yankees batter made a mistake by swinging 15 times against Kikuchi. This is the most swing and mistake he has made in one start of the season.

“If he throws a strike, he’ll kick people out,” said Charlie Montoyo, manager of the Blue Jays.

David Phelps won the seventh one, but left after issuing a series of walks, and Tim Mezer came in to retire the next two batters. Emi Garcia worked eighth.

Toronto improved to 10-3 in a one-run game. The Blue Jays lead baseball in 10 one-runs.

Garo had a tight base on his left leg, so he returned to the lineup after missing the last three games. He returned home at the opening ceremony he saw from Kikuchi for the third time.

Garo’s home run was his third and 35th, leading New York’s Major League Baseball.

Chapman started scoring second in a lead-off blast from left-handed Nestor Cortes. Homer was Chapman’s fifth.

Bo Bichette hit a two-out double in the third and Guerrero broke the deadlock with his single.

Cortez (1-1) allowed 2 runs and 4 hits in 4 innings. He walked four and hit three.

“The command wasn’t there today,” Cortez said.

New York suffered a second defeat in 17 games when it hit at least one home run.

The Blue Jays chose RHP Casey Lawrence from Triple A Buffalo and LHP Andrew Vasquez for Triple A. INF Gosuke Katoh has been appointed to create space for Lawrence on the 40-person list.
