Nashville, Tennessee (WTVF) —Bluegrass legend Doyle Lawson retires from the Station Inn tour.

“The presence of Doyle and the band is one of the greatest honors I can think of,” said Joshua Ulbrich, owner of Station Inn.

After nearly 60 years, Lawson is ready to rest a bit. The 77-year-old says it only makes sense to celebrate the final day of the station-in tour.

“I started playing station-in very early on. I can’t even say how many times I’ve played, and I have great memories of being here,” Lawson said.

Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver has been nominated for seven Grammy Awards.

Lawson says his band was by his side and there were so many memorable moments.

“When I was a kid growing up in East Tennessee, I never thought I could see the world like myself,” Lawson said.

Lawson says he is not completely retired from the industry. He will continue to produce other acts.
