Boiling water recommendations issued to parts of Florence – Florence, South Carolina

Florence, South Carolina 2020-10-18 15:25:51 –

Florence, South Carolina (WBTW) —The city of Florence sent a release on Sunday afternoon stating that a boiling water recommendation is being implemented at Otis Way in 1700 blocks.

Florentine water customers within that block are experiencing water loss at low pressure due to a broken water main.

The city’s water staff advises residents to boil tap water vigorously for a minute before drinking or cooking tap water.

Staff are currently working on repairing and restoring water supplies to affected customers.

According to reports, no system contamination has been identified, but reduced pressure can lead to bacteriological contamination.

The city of Florence states that the recommendation is a precautionary measure to protect the general public until test results are returned to ensure that water is safe to drink.

These test results must be completed by Monday. The City of Florence will notify the customer of the status of the recommendation.
