Tallahassee, Florida (AP) — Authorities say banking mistakes have seen dozens of Florida teachers return state-issued $ 1,000 bonus checks.
The Florida Department of Education said Friday that disaster relief money issued to about 50 of the 176,000 educators who received the check was affected by the JPMorgan Chase error. Bankers say they are working to resolve the issue and all fees incurred will be refunded.
Senator Jason Pizzo noted the error when he tweeted a photo of the teacher’s return notice he received after trying to deposit a check on Friday morning.
