ST. Louis (AP) — Robert Bolzzo scored his first goal of the season, and Braden Shen also scored, beating St. Louis Bruce 3-1 against Anaheim Ducks on Monday night.
Jordan Binnington became the tenth goalkeeper in blues history with 19 saves to win his 70th career win. Bruce won seven of the last nine against ducks and is 5-1-1 this season against Anaheim.
Ryan O’Reilly has added an empty netter to block the victory.
Ryan Getzlav scored in Anaheim and Jon Gibson saved 29 times.
The team will meet again in St. Louis on Wednesday.
Bortuzzo gave St. Louis a 2-1 lead at 2:13 in the third period. From behind the net, Jordan Kirou saw Bolzzo in the slot and a shot of his wrist found behind the net. It was Bortuzzo’s 17th goal in his 10-year NHL career. His final goal was on March 8, 2020 in Chicago.
Bruce has won six of the last eight games at home. This victory made St. Louis five points ahead of Arizona, making it the final playoff spot for the West Division. Bruce has three games in Arizona, which hosted Los Angeles on Monday.
After the first period of scoreless, each team scored within 25 seconds of each in the second period.
St. Louis took a 1-0 lead at 5:52 when Shen snapped a wrist shot by Gibson for a power play goal. Shen has scored 7 points in 7 games against ducks this season.
The duck tied it at 6:17 with a goal without Getzraf’s assistance. Colton Paraiko was unable to process the pass from Samuel Bryce. Getzlaf picked up the path and buried the puck in the breakaway.
RW David Peron played in his 900th career game and 600th St. Louis. He has 600 career points and 400 blues. Assisting O’Reilly’s second half goal, Peron played 600 games in the 14th club in blues history and reached 900 career games with the 57th active player. Peron was initially drafted by Bruce in 2007 in 26th place overall.
David Bucks, in the final year of the five-year contract he signed when he left St. Louis, did not participate in the morning skates. Bucks has played in one of the last 11 games and has only played 14 games throughout the season. Dax coach Dallas Ekins was hoping Bucks would have a chance to play Wednesday.
“I know what he meant for the St. Louis organization in the past. I think he’s clearly a captain and actually sets the standards for leadership, personality and work ethic,” Ekins said. I am. “He had a limited number of games played for us, but he wasn’t tolerant of his leadership, his personality, or his work ethic.”
Bruce: RW Vladimir Tara Senko (lower body injury) returns to ice after missing two games. Kyle Clifford was scratched as Thalassenko returned. … D Vince Dan (upper body injury) will miss four games in a row. He participated in morning skating. … D Tori Krug (upper body injury) will miss two games in a row. He is second on the team with 28 assists.
Duck: C Adam Enrique was out last week while participating in the COVID-19 protocol (although he wasn’t positive on the test), but was on a road trip but didn’t play. He missed five games. … D Josh Manson (upper body injury) is not playing because he was injured in the April 20th battle (6 games missed) in Los Angeles. He’s traveling, but “every day we’ll see how it goes,” Ekins said.
Move the list
The duck remembered D Josh Muffler, 22, from AHL’s San Diego on Monday. Muffler, who hasn’t seen the NHL’s action since March, has scored goals and three points in 11 games against Anaheim this season.
