Boston University mourning loss of professor who passed away in an accident – Boston News, Weather, Sports – Boston, Massachusetts

Boston (WHDH)-Boston University mourns the death of an associate professor who died on Saturday.

Dr. David Jones, a professor of health law, policy and administration, died in an accident, and Dean and Robert A. Knox’s professor Sandro Galea wrote in a letter to the community.

“In fact, I have no words to explain the devastation of this news,” Galea wrote.

Jones enrolled in the Faculty of Public Health in 2014 and was the founding editor-in-chief of the Public Health Post.

He has received several awards, including AUPHA’s John D. Thompson Young Researcher Award, Academy Health’s Best Paper Award, and BU Public Health Education Excellence Award.

“He was deeply interested in bridging research and policy and worked in France and the Mississippi Delta,” continued Galea. “And above all, David was a wonderful person and lived with integrity and a deep commitment to everything we do. I love all the interactions with David and make David part of the community. I can’t really imagine what it means to not do it. “

Faculty and staff who want to meet in memory of Jones can meet via the founder’s room. zoom Monday 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm

There will also be space for students in classes taught by Jones during class hours scheduled on Tuesdays.

Resources will be available next week.

“In the meantime, our thoughts are on David’s family and all his loved ones,” Galea wrote. “May all of us live with orientation and elegance in honor of David’s memory.”
