The city of Nasik houses a beautiful botanical garden. This is a recent development in the city and was built by the sincere efforts of the MNS president, Raj Thakrey. Today the garden stands in full bloom today. It was started in the year 2016. This botanical garden is also known as Jawaharlal Nehru Van Udyan. It is created in collaboration with Forest Development Corporation, Nasik Municipal Corporation and Tata Trust. These bodies work hand in hand in carrying out the smooth functioning of this mesmerizing garden. It was formerly an herb garden. Today it has become one of the most sort after tourist locations for tourists and locals.

Jawaharlal Nehru Van Udyan is busy on all days of the week. On weekends this botanical garden encounters a huge visitor traffic. People come in here with their friends and family to enjoy a small brisk walk in between nature. This garden gives one an opportunity to experience natural beauty. In the present times it is difficult to find a small patch of land covered in vegetation in cities. But when in here one can have the satisfaction of inhaling clean and fresh air.

The greenery of this place is bountiful. The Jawaharlal Nehru Van Udyan accommodates a large number of trees, herbs and shrubs. This is in a way educative too. One can learn about the various species of plants when in here. Some are even rare and exotic species. The vegetative abundance of this botanical garden is a treat to the eyes. One unique feature of this part is the fantastic ‘laser show’ conducted in here.  This attracts lot many visitors. The seats are arranged in the shape of a colourful butterfly. These little details makes the show a joyful experience.

There exists a huge replica of an elephant in Jawaharlal Nehru Van Udyan. This attracts children. They love running around it and get clicked with the elephant too.

This extensive botanical garden has the facility of arrangement of bicycles. Visitors can hire these bicycles and move around the garden. It is a fun experience. These days one hardly gets an opportunity to ride a bicycle. Children as well as elders avail this facility and enjoy this experience.

The 40 feet entrance gate of Jawaharlal Nehru Van Udyan is extremely beautiful. It is crested in the shape of a butterfly and has various colourful lights attached to it. This gives it a beautiful and unique edge. Children rejoice at the sight of the very gate.

A Tourist’s Guide

Jawaharlal Nehru Van Udyan is open on all days of the week expect on Wednesdays. It opens at 10 am and closes at 7 pm. The laser shows in here start at 7 pm and 7:45 pm. A visit to the show will definitely be a memorable and unique experience. The botanical garden is at a distance of 7 km from the city of Nasik. Public transport is easily available to reach this destination. The best way to reach this place is via bus. It is an economical and comfortable option. It has parking facility too.

The nearest railway head from here is Nasik Road Railway Station which is at a distance of 14 km. the nearest airport is Gandhinagar Military Airport. The airport is at a distance of 10.4 km from here. One can find several accommodation options in the city of Nasik.
