Baltimore, Maryland – Clyde Doughty, Jr., Vice-President of Inter-University Athletics and Recreation at Bowie State University, will be hosting the 2021-22 Jeanette A. Recognized as a winner of the Lee Award. This honor is a special award for outstanding service within CIAA.

“We are very honored to receive the CIAA Janet A. Lee Athletic Administrator of the Year Award,” said Doughty, Jr.

This award concludes another successful year of Doughty, Jr. and BSU Athletics. Now in his seventh year as Vice President of Inter-University Athletics and Recreation at Bowie State University, Doughty, Jr. continues to lead Bulldog with remarkable results. In March, Doughty, Jr. will be one of the three Division II winners to be selected for this year’s Cushman & Wakefield Athletic Director of the Year and will be honored during 1957.th The annual NACDA Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada on June 28th.

From 2021 to 22 alone, under the leadership of Doughty, Jr., it was unique to Bowie State University. Bowie was highlighted in two CIAA championship titles, Soccer and Women’s Bowling, and this year won four Northern Division titles, including Soccer, Women’s Bowling, Softball and Women’s Tennis. Department title. Both programs have been repeated as conference champions for six and three consecutive seasons. This year’s Softball Northern Division title is the program since 2017, and women’s tennis won the first division title in program history.

In addition to the conference championship and division titles, Bowie State University’s success was dispersed throughout the year by the Bulldogs hosting two football playoff games as the program first appeared in the NCAA Football Quarterfinals. Women’s Bowling made her third appearance in the NCAA Tournament, and Bowie was the host of the 2021 CIAA Women’s Volleyball Championship, the 2022 Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships, and the host of the 2022 CIAA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament.

Doughty, Jr.’s career has been excellent in the integrity and success of his programs since arriving in Bowie in 2015. At the national level, he is a leader, active member, and member of the DII Degree Completion Awards Committee for NACDA Division II, DII Athletic Directors Association Board, Common Ground Board, Return on Inclusion Board.

Doughty, Jr. holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration, two master’s degrees from the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), and currently holds a doctorate in educational leadership from Bowie State University in December 2022. It is progressing at a pace to do.
