East Harlem, Manhattan (PIX11) —A boy who fell from a window on the 29th floor of a Manhattan building died on Saturday morning, police said.
According to officials, the 3-year-old child fell from a building along Third Avenue near East 123rd Street and landed on a scaffolding on the fifth floor around 11:00 am. The victim was taken to the hospital by EMS. According to the NYPD, he subsequently died.
Neighbors explained that they shocked PIX11 news on Saturday night.
“They said the child had fallen from the 29th floor, and I started crying,” said Therma Rollins.
Another neighbor said he heard the boy screaming from above before he fell. It sounded like a fight, she added.
“Then suddenly you hear a rattling noise … like a boom!” She continued.
Police investigation is underway. They are investigating what his parents or caregivers were doing when the boy fell. As of Sunday morning, police said the crime did not appear to be involved.
