Wakefield High School is allegedly put into “school safety mode” this morning after a student threatened him.
The incident happened shortly before noon, prompting a large police response. It involved students allegedly wearing bulletproof vests or similar style vests.
“Just before 11:45 am, a Wakefield High School employee called me about a student involved in a physical quarrel outside the school grounds,” said Ashley Savage, a spokeswoman for Arlington County Police. He says. .. “Students allegedly recovered what was called a bulletproof vest and threatened it with words.”
Later, several police forces responded to the school and began looking for students.
“The SRO supervisor coordinated the police response, and the police officer found a student who was a passenger in the car and moved through the areas of S. Frederick Street and S. George Mason Drive to implement a traffic stop,” Savage said. Told. “The student was detained without incident. As a result of the incident, Wakefield High School was subsequently placed in a safe place in the lifted building. Investigations are currently underway.”
Arlington Public School is now Consider changes To that school resource officer program. The Working Group will make recommendations to the Board of Education next month.
