Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (WBTW) — Broadway at the Beach and Barefoot Landing’s local employers host employment events on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to combat labor shortages.
This is a challenge many companies are currently facing — finding someone to hire.
Prior to the expected busy summer season, “currently hired” signs are hanging on windows and doors.
Dozens of shops, entertainment venues and restaurants like Señor Frogs are looking to adopt full-time, part-time and seasonal positions.
Employees of Senor Frogs say the busiest month is May-September.
“We’re just looking for someone who wants to work, join the team and get excited about all the sales,” said Daniel Blackwell of Senor Frogs.
The restaurant is already understaffed and the season is expected to recover within the next few weeks to months.
As the tourist season begins, some companies are already struggling to keep up with business demand.
“Even if the table is open, people have to wait because there is no staff to prepare or wait for food,” says Blackwell.
Senor Frogs has been reopened for almost a year since it had to be closed during a pandemic. Employees are not returning while customers are returning.
Broadway at the Beach companies participating in the job crawl on Tuesday morning will be installed outside the door from 8am to 10am. In case of bad weather, an employer will be set up within the business.
Barefoot landing At the same time, a recruitment event will be held on Wednesday.
