Denver Broncos addressed the linebacker shortage on Monday with the acquisition of Kenny Young from the Los Angeles Rams.
Broncos will also receive a 7th round pick from the contract 2024 NFL draft. Rams receives the sixth round selection in the same draft.
Eight times in the Pro Bowl, Von Miller has become the latest injured Denver linebacker. Miller injured his ankle during a 17-14 defeat to the Cleveland Browns on Thursday, becoming Broncos’ eighth injured linebacker. Six of them are on the injured list.
The 26-year-old recorded 46 tackles, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in seven games (all started) this season. UCLA products are in the final season of his first four-year contract after being drafted by Baltimore Ravens in 2018 and becoming an unlimited free agent in 2022.
Young has made 166 tackles, 3 forced fumbles and 3 fumble recovery in 53 career games (19 starts) between Rams and Baltimore Ravens (2018-19). Los Angeles is expected to increase play time for rookie linebacker Ernest Jones, a third-round draft from South Carolina.
