Original report: Las Vegas (FOX5) –The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said on Friday morning that it had identified a dead eight-year-old boy near a trailhead west of the valley and warned his brother of the missing person.
LVMPD Lieutenant Ray Spencer said his mother saw a sketch of the boy published Friday and identified the boy as his eight-year-old son. A coroner in Clark County revealed his identity by showing a picture of the boy’s mother.
Police later learned that 37-year-old Jose Montes Herrera, who lives in Las Vegas, was the father of two boys, said Lieutenant Ray Spencer.
Montes-Herera was last seen driving a white 2015 GMC pickup on the commemorative license plate LVUOOX in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Police had previously stated that the boy was a “clear victim of murder,” but did not disclose information about how he was killed.
“We are doing everything we can to find our 11-year-old child, Eden Montes, and we want to find him alive,” Spencer said.
Spencer said the situation was not a parental abduction. Montes Herrera “is the biological father of both children and it is not uncommon to bring both children over the weekend,” Spencer said.
Spencer said there were no “amazing details” when Montes Herrera picked up the eight-year-old boy, but did not reveal the details.
Investigators said investigators were checking surveillance videos from a location along 50 miles of SR 160 between Pahrump and Las Vegas, while police were still trying to identify an eight-year-old man on Friday. It was. “We currently have a huge amount of resources to tackle this proceeding.”
LVMPD is responsible for two hint lines for information.
