The NHL has officially exposed and protected players from 30 clubs (excluding Vegas Golden Knights) that can participate in the Seattle Kraken expansion draft.
for Boston BruinsPrior to the July 21st draft, it was revealed that the team would follow the 7-3-1 route, protecting 7 forwards, 3 defenses and 1 goalkeeper.
The players are:
forward: Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand, David Pastonack, Charlie Coil, Craig Smith, Jake Debrask, Trent Frederick
defense: Charlie McAvoy, Matt Grzelcyk, Brandon Carlo
Goalkeeper: Dan Vladder
According to the NHL site, Kraken has the following Bruins players to choose from:
Anton Blidh (F), Paul Carey (F), Peter Cehlarik (F), Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson (F), Taylor Hall (F), Cameron Hughes (F), Ondrej Kase (F), Alex Khokhlachev (F), Joona Koppanen (F), David Krejci (F), Karson Kuhlman (F), Sean Kuraly (F), Curtis Lazar (F), Greg McKegg (F), Nick Ritchie (F), Zach Senyshyn (F), Chris Wagner ( F), Linus Arnesson (D), Connor Clifton (D), Steven Kampfer (D), Jeremy Lauzon (D), Kevan Miller (D)-Retired, John Moore (D), Mike Reilly (D), Jarred Tinordi ( D), Jakub Zboril (D), Callum Booth (G), Jaroslav Halak (G), Tuukka Rask (G)
Kraken picking can drop from that list to Clifton, Lawson, or Ritchie, and Bruins can lose one of those defenses.
Bruins’ protection list was not surprising and quite predictable. The forward list had three players with a no-movement clause (Marshan, Bergeron, Coil) and did not reveal Pastonack or Smith.
The only real wildcard was to protect DeBrusk over Ritchie (or vice versa) as DeBrusk struggled this past season.
Kraken can sign pending free agents from now until July 21st, and if they do, they will run out of picks from each respected team. The 2021 NHL Expansion Draft will be published this Wednesday at 8 pm. Get ready!
