Bullets fired at the car miss a girl just 5 years old – Portland, Oregon

Portland, Oregon (KOIN) — A 5-year-old girl and two others were about to be hit by a bullet near Powell Butte Park in the Centennial district early Sunday.

The Portland Police Department responded to reports of firing near the intersection of SE16 2nd Avenue and SE Hague Street at around 12:15 am. Upon arrival, police found that the victim’s vehicle had damage consistent with the firing.

“The driver reported that he was driving Southeast 162nd Avenue with his girlfriend and his young daughter when someone started shooting the car,” police said in a release. “Then, the suspect’s vehicle passed through the vehicle and fired head-on. When the victim turned around to escape, the suspect fired on the side of the vehicle.”

The PPB said the vehicle had at least five bullet strikes, one of which remained in the seat directly behind the girl. However, no injuries have been reported.

No suspicious information has been released at this time.
