Greenwood, South Carolina (WSPA) – A bullet in a toaster oven set off a fire at the Assisted Living facility in Greenwood on Sunday night.

According to Greenwood police, the incident will occur at 8:53 pm at the Morningside Assisted Living Facility on Enterprise Court.

Officers, along with the Greenwood City Fire Department and Greenwood County Emergency Services, responded to a scene where they were advised to hear a possible shooting at the location.

According to the GPD, police officers found a small fire in a resident’s room. Residents turned out to be unconscious and were taken to the hospital for treatment for apparent smoke inhalation.

Officials said the fire appeared to have broke out as residents put a few rounds of ammunition into an oven toaster to release the ammunition, causing employees to believe that the shooters were on the premises.

According to police, the fire was quickly extinguished and contained in a resident’s room. No other injuries were reported and all residents were safely described by staff.
