Busy roofer after ice and snow left damage – Lexington-Fayette, Kentucky

Lexington-Fayette, Kentucky 2021-02-25 23:35:42 –

(LEX 18) — Snow and ice from last winter’s storm melted, but some homeowners still have roof damage.

This meant a busy week for Ark Roofing owner Orlando Mays.

“We’ve been receiving calls for a variety of issues … many times,” Maze said. “We work pretty quickly and work late into the night.”

Most of the damage is due to the weight of ice and snow, and when it melts, leaks remain. However, there was more widespread damage caused by the limbs of the fallen tree.

Heather Clary, communications director for the Better Business Bureau in central and eastern Kentucky, cautions consumers that consumers may want to act swiftly to repair damage after a storm.

“You don’t want to make that decision too early and hire the wrong company that might hurt you more than good,” she said.

She said Kentucky citizens need to get three quotes and ask for a reference before hiring a repair company.

“It’s better to use locals if possible,” she said. “Or at least someone in the state, because it’s much easier to catch up with them to deal with warranty issues and potential concerns.”
