Fresno County, California (KFSN) –Heavy dry vegetation covers the landscape and the temperature is rising, increasing the likelihood of a fire.

However, the Fresno County fire brigade near Placer will be able to respond more quickly after permanently deploying a new fire station in the hills.

Fire Station 74 along Skyrun Lane and Highway 168 was previously used by “paid firefighters” and has recently been modified to improve its infrastructure.

We also added housing for two full-time firefighters currently on site.

“The response from Engine 74 allows us to secure resources faster and keep fires much smaller in the field,” said Dan Urias, Captain of CAL FIRE Fresno County.

According to Julius, the truck is equipped with firefighting equipment as well as rescue tools.

The crew can respond to the accident a few minutes faster and provide immediate assistance to the victims.

“We can rescue patients involved in a collision. Previously, we had to wait 20 minutes for such a response from Millerton,” says Urias.

Fresno County Supervisor Nathan Magsig said this improved service will be important as the fire season heats up and is currently underway to prevent other disasters, such as creating fire squeaks.

“We will continue to add firefighters in Fresno County and the Central Valley,” he says.

Julius says, under a contract with Fresno County, the engine will not move and will remain strictly in the mountains to respond to emergencies.
