California EDD adopts ‘pay now’ policy, will begin distributing benefits to certified claimants Friday – Fresno, California

Fresno, California 2021-07-23 11:00:21 –

Sacramento-California Employment Development Department announced Thursday that it will begin paying unemployment benefits to claimants whose payments have been held for at least two weeks.

According to EDD, the new conditional payment program will send funds to potentially hundreds of thousands of people who have previously made at least one payment but have been on hold for more than two weeks afterwards with continuous billing. I will.

“We know that many claimants who have cleared the fraud filter and confirmed their identities are waiting for payment too long,” said EDD Director Rita Sentz. “Correspondingly, we are launching a new program to help many Californians get benefits faster.”

The ministry says it will begin sending notifications this week to claimants who will benefit from this “pay now” policy. Payments will arrive in the plaintiff’s account over the next few weeks starting Friday.

Claimants who are later found to be ineligible for these payments may be required to repay, but EDD states that there are exceptions in situations where financial difficulties and suspension are not the responsibility of the claimant. I will.
