Fresno, CA (KFSN)- Update: California Department of Justice Confirmed on Wednesday The disclosure of personal information about people who have been granted or denied concealment and weapons (CCW) permits.
That information includes the name, date of birth, gender, race, driver’s license number, address, and criminal history of the person who was granted or denied permission from 2011 to 2021.
However, according to the Ministry of Justice, social security numbers and financial information are not disclosed.
On Wednesday, it was revealed that the exposure extended to assault weapon registration, certified pistols for sale, dealer records for sale, firearm certificate security, and gun violence control order dashboards.
“Unauthorized disclosure of this personal information is unacceptable and far below my expectations for this department,” said Attorney General Rob Bonta.

The California Department of Justice launched a new website on Monday aimed at making information about firearms more transparent.
The information included the name, age, address, and license type of the person with the permission of the Hidden Carry Weapon.

The DOJ shut down part of the website after learning about the violation.
“It’s always relevant that certain information is publicly available,” says Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims. “Of course, what we always open to the public is to protect your personal information.”
