Officials at the Central California Blood Center (CCBC) have said they have seen a significant decline in donors since the pandemic began and are worried that supply may be low during the summer.
Now they are seeking urgent help.
Christopher, CEO of CCBC, said: “We are always looking for blood in our colleagues and trying to share blood when there is extra blood and literally no one has extra blood. Staub.
According to authorities, the central donor chair remains empty throughout most of the pandemic and requires all types of blood, especially O-Positive and O-Negative, to fill the bare storage shelves.
They add that blood banks across the country are struggling to keep up with demand due to increasing use in hospitals.
“People needed those surgeries as pandemic selective surgery was back, they had to get them, and only blood use has skyrocketed in recent months.” Said Staub.
The center tried to get at least 5,000 units of blood a month during the pandemic, but is lagging behind. Fortunately, local partners are stepping up their support.
“After all, it’s not just our business, it’s giving, it’s finding a way to give,” said Tony Alvarez, loan officer for RWM mortgages.
RWM Home Loans officials recognized the need for donations and decided to coordinate with the Central California Blood Center on Thursday to install a mobile drive in the North Fresno office.
“Blood donations aren’t happening anywhere, at school, or anywhere. They said that a single donation would save the lives of three people, so they want to do more for the community. “Alvarez said.
Blood center staff want to make donations easy.
It seems that it takes about 1 hour for the whole process including examination and paperwork.
If you’re still uncertain about whether to donate, the Central California Blood Center offers many incentives such as ice cream and gift cards when donating.
