Las Vegas (FOX5)-Las Vegas SMEs are having more difficulty competing with large Black Friday supercenters due to capacity requirements.
One business is Sin City Snowboards. The owner of this snowboard has placed distance markers on the floor outside the shop in case there are more people than the shop can accommodate.
“We’re at 1200 square feet, so based on its size, we know that only a few people can be in the store at a time,” said Glenn Robert, owner of Sin City Snowboards.
Robert says the big box store may have extra space to accommodate more people, but he has a secret weapon that allows him to compete.
“We offer the best customer service of any store. You get one-on-one attention that you can’t get in a big box store because they’re too big. That’s what Robert says.
Robert said this Black Friday was busier than in the last few years.
“When we got to the store, we were waiting for two people at the door, and we were busy all morning,” Robert said.
This year, Robert says he was generally busy and admits a pandemic to his increased sales.
“People want to go out. They want to go out more. That’s the only safe thing you can do,” Robert said. “This summer, mountain biking is huge and skateboarding. It’s safe. The 6-foot distance is already in the mountains.”
