Winter may begin, but work to improve the visitor’s experience on the Cape Cod National Coast continues into the colder months, officials say.
According to the Cape Cod Times, the superintendent of education Brian Kurstrom said in a statement that new or ongoing projects would include the construction of a new bath facility at the Nauset Lighthouse in Eastham and the ongoing rehabilitation of the Highland Lighthouse in Truro. Said to be included.
Small projects include upgrading public toilets, replacing septic tank systems, and completing new accessible paths at the Province Lands Visitor Center.
Exterior rehabilitation work at the Provincetown Visitor Center and interior work at Race Point Beach Baths will take place during the winter months.
Work on the Nauset Lighthouse baths is expected to be completed next summer.
New roofs will be installed at the former Noset Coast Guard Station and the public toilets on Eastham’s Coast Guard Beach.
To meet current public health standards, a replacement septic tank will be installed at Marconi Beach in Wellfleet.
