The January 6 committee of the House of Representatives will continue hearings until July as the investigation into the parliamentary riots deepens.
Chairman Benny Thompson told reporters that the commission has received “a lot of information”, including footage of a new documentary film for Donald Trump’s term in the last few months. Hearings about attacks and Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 elections have intensified the year-long investigation.
Thursday’s hearing, in which former Justice Department officials testify to Trump’s proposal to reject election results, is expected to conclude this month’s work. The committee will reopen in July.
The Thursday hearing will be the fourth of at least six hearings planned by the Commission.
The hearing on Tuesday focused on the pressure Trump and his legal team applied to state authorities to overturn the outcome of the 2020 elections.
