According to police, four bicycles crashed into a vehicle on Route 22 early Thursday morning, killing one of them. View the report from Mary’s Building on the video player above. Police and paramedics were called to the scene near the intersection of National Highway 22 and Brick. Around 4 am Hill Road Marie’s Building police confirmed that a 25-year-old man on one of the bicycles had died on the scene. The other three cyclists were taken to the hospital with “moderate injuries.” Coroner, Westmoreland County, has identified the victim as Marcus Koblenz in Sugarcreek, Ohio. “This is a group of cyclists in Ohio, and when one cyclist was beaten in the rear and then another cyclist was involved, Ohio actually did,” said Thomas Seefeld, chief of the Mary’sville Police Department. Four bicycles crashed into a vehicle on Route 22 early Thursday morning, killing one of them, police said.

Around 4 am, police and paramedics were called to the scene near the intersection of National Highway 22 and Brick Hill Road.

Mary’s Building police confirmed that a 25-year-old man on one of the bicycles had died on the scene. The other three cyclists were taken to the hospital with “moderate injuries.”

Coroner, Westmoreland County, identified the victim as Marcus Koblenz in Sugarcreek, Ohio.

“This is a church group that is a group of cyclists in Ohio, who actually traveled from Ohio to Altoona when one cyclist was beaten backwards, and then another cyclist was involved.” Said Thomas Seefeld, police chief of Marysville.

The eastward lane of Route 22 was closed for several hours while police were investigating the crash site.

“The early signs were that they had some reflectors and some flashing lights on their bikes,” Seefeld said. “From all that we first collected here, the vehicle operator didn’t have time to react.”

The driver is a 16-year-old girl who works with the police. Seefeld said he did not believe that drugs or alcohol were the cause of the accident and had no plans to prosecute him, but said the investigation was ongoing.

“That’s a shame,” he said. “It’s a shame this happened.”
