Taunton — A 12-year-old boy was seriously injured in a car attack on Friday night, according to a Taunton police statement.
At around 6:30 pm on Friday, Taunton Police and Fire Department responded to 43 Plain Street with reports of a car accident involving pedestrians, according to a statement.
Upon arrival, the police found the boy who was seriously injured.
According to police, the boy was transferred by a Brewster ambulance to Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence.
Police said the first investigation found that the boy was crossing the street with his family when he slipped and fell back in the path of an oncoming vehicle. The boy was attacked by the 2006 Nissan Sentra bound west.
According to the statement, the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police.
According to police, no charges have been filed and speed is not believed to be the cause of the crash.
The Taunton Police and Fire Department were assisted on-site by the ongoing investigation of the Taunton Police Accident Reconstruction Team.
