(KMOV.com) — Cardinals exchanged John Gant for veteran starting pitcher JA Happ prior to the MLB trading deadline on Friday afternoon. Cardinals also sent 24-year-old minor league pitcher Evan Sisk to the deal.

38-year-old Happ has achieved 6.77 ERA in 19 games this season, earning run 74 times a year in the league. Cardinals must expect landscape changes to provide St. Louis with meaningful insurance for left-handed haps.
Jack Flaherty and Miles Mikolas have begun allocating rehab that could lead to a return to rotation in August, but Cardinals sought veteran depth to strengthen the group. Whether Happ represents the achievement of that goal is a legitimate question based on his recent performance. For July, Happ has a 9.22 ERA with 5 starts and the opposite OPS for that month is 1.011.
28-year-old Gantt successfully started the season with the Cardinals Rotation. After that, he was pushed into the bullpen at high walking speed. During the season, Gantt had a 3.42 ERA in 76.1 innings, but seemed stuck in a no-man’s land when it came to his role on the Cardinals roster. Gantt will be under the control of the team until 2022, but arbitration will be raised from his $ 2.1 million salary.
It probably put him in the category of non-bid candidates in St. Louis, which led Cardinals to ship him for a landfill project on Friday’s deadline.
