Wichita, Kang (KSNW) — The Wichita police station is investigating the murder of a 67-year-old man.
Police officers went to N. Glen’s 100-block house after 10 pm on Tuesday to investigate reports of shootings.
Instead of shooting, they found Petersen’s body. They say he was stabbed many times.
According to police, Petersen’s caretaker went home to check him and found him injured on the kitchen floor. She called 911.
Wichita’s James Shaw, 60, was also at home when she arrived. After examining the evidence and interviewing people, police arrested Shaw on suspicion of a second murder.
They say Shaw and Petersen knew each other, and this wasn’t a coincidence.
Shaw was previously convicted of unintentional manslaughter from Wyandot County. He was released on parole by Wichita in December.
Police are still investigating the case. When they are done, they plan to present the case to the District Attorney’s Office.
